Some of my couples want to have their fur babes in their photos! This is 100% doable, as long as we come prepared! Before your session, let me know if you are interested in incorporating your dog in your engagement photos and we will talk about the logistics and get a game plan. Here are a few tips when it comes to incorporating your dog in your engagement photos!
Bring either a friend or family member with to the session so that once we are done with your pup, we can hand them over to them to either bring home or take for a walk. Usually we will start or end the session with your dog so that we can have the rest of the session dedicated for just the two of you!
Whether it’s in your own backyard or a park you visit often with your pup, think about places they will feel comfortable if they are more on the anxious side. If my couples’ home is nearby the location they chose for their engagement session and the location isn’t necessarily “dog friendly”, we can start at their home first, then head to the second location. Even if the second location is dog friendly, this is super easy for you and your pup because you can just have them stay at home. No extra stress! Woohoo!
Be prepared with plenty of treats and their favorite toys to get them to sit still for a few photos. Also, be sure to tell me all the secret words to get them to look at me and my camera! My parents’ dog loves cheese, so if you say “cheese!” she will actually do that cute head tilt at me!
Tire them out by taking them for a walk or playing with them before the session so that they can get some of their energy out before hand.
